Reverse link lookup aka link indexing client API

Andrii Berezovskyi

Dear Partick and the PTC team,

Thank you for the presentation today! On slide 22 you mentioned a “reverse look-up” service. Would you be interested to share a bit more about this service, please?

Last year, IBM shared something similar with us under the idea of a “link indexing” (see the minutes under the “Jazz Foundation ILinkIndexService” heading). The idea is that such a service is necessary for achieving a “full” OSLC profile. For now, there is no draft on Github (an early place for it was a note in HackMD, a collaborative markdown editor, was hasn’t been migrated to Github yet).

This is probably a good time to ask Eran and the IBM team if there is a renewed interest to work on link indexing this year, as well the PTC team if there is an interest to contribute to this effort.

Best regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

We shared some information to the OSLC Profile team last year, but happy to share again here.

PTC’s reverse lookup provides visibility to trace relationships (OSLC Links) that are stored in a different system to the one being used. Essentially it provides a way for Tool A to query Tool B to find OSLC Links of interest. It answers the question of what “incoming” links in other systems point to the item(s) I am interested in?

You can see an explanation and demo of this here:

regards,

Patrick
