The project support request forms are moving

Chet Ensign

Chairs and editors,

The project support request forms that you've come to know and love as your primary way to assign support tasks to OASIS staff - publishing approved documents, setting up Special Majority Votes, those sorts of things - are moving and improving.

I am moving the forms to the new OASIS website, under the Member Resources link at the bottom of the page. To get there directly, go to https://www.oasis-open.org/project-administration-support-requests/

I have streamlined the tickets, eliminating many of the minor variants I had, in order to make it easier to know which ones to use. Please let me know if this works better for you. As always, make sure your approval motions contain the key elements we'll need for addressing your tickets. You can always use the Motion language templates at https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/53768 to help draft motions or ballots with everything we need.

I am continuing to add tickets. If you don't yet see the one you need, let me know so that I can set it up. Also, if you see a need for requests that we don't yet have on the list, please describe the need to me so that I can put it together.

As before, these tickets all open TC Admin JIRA issues for me at https://issues.oasis-open.org/projects/TCADMIN/issues/ so you can always check on the status of your request there. And if, for any reason, you think your request might have failed to go through, please let me know right away so that I can address it.

Ping me with any questions!

The OSLC initiative applies Linked Data principles, such as those defined in the W3C Linked Data Platform (LDP), to create a cohesive set of specifications that can enable products, services, and other distributed network resources to interoperate successfully.

Requirements Management V2.1 builds on OSLC's Core Specification to define the resources, properties and operations to be supported by an OSLC Requirements Definition and Management server.

The OP received 3 Statements of Use from SodiusWillert, IBM, and KTH Royal Institute of Technology [6].

OSLC Change Management v3.0 approved as an OASIS Standard

Chet Ensign

OASIS is pleased to announce that the call for consent has closed [1] and, effective 26 May 2021, OSLC Change Management Version 3.0 is an OASIS Standard. Project Administration will now undertake the final tasks of publishing the standard.

Change Management Version 3.0 was produced by the OASIS OSLC Open Project [2]. This is the first OASIS Standard delivered by the Open Projects program.

The ballot was held under the OASIS call for consent procedure [3]. In the ballot, the Candidate OASIS Standard received 7 affirmative consents and no objections.

Our congratulations to the members of the OSLC Open Project and to the community of implementers, developers and users who have brought the work successfully to this milestone.

Ballot to approve OSLC Requirements Management Version 2.1 PS02 with Non-Material Changes as a candidate for OASIS Standard has been set up

Chet Ensign

The OASIS Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) Open Project Project Governing Board [1] has requested a Special Majority Vote to approve a working draft of OSLC Requirements Management Version 2.1 with non-material changes as Project Specification 02 and submitting this to the OASIS membership in the call for consent as OASIS Standard. This is being done under the rules of section 2.8.2 Public Review of a Committee Specification candidate for OASIS Standard (https://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/tc-process-2017-05-26/#OSpublicRev)

Changes have been made to this Project Specification working draft to address comments received during its 60-day public review. The TC judges these changes to be non-material. The description of the changes can be inspected in Response-to-comments-on-OSLC-Requirements-Management-PS01.pdf (https://www.oasis-open.org/committees/document.php?document_id=68639&wg_abbrev=tca).

The ballot can be inspected at https://lists.oasis-open-projects.org/g/oslc-op-pgb/message/143. The ballot is open now and closes 28 May 2021 at 11:59 UTC.

Any Eligible Person concerned that the changes are Material is asked to bring their concern to OASIS Project Administration at project-admin@... so that the appropriate actions can be taken.

This is the first work of an OASIS Open Project to be submitted as a candidate for OASIS Standard.

The OSLC initiative applies Linked Data principles, such as those defined in the W3C Linked Data Platform (LDP), to create a cohesive set of specifications that can enable products, services, and other distributed network resources to interoperate successfully.

Change Management v3.0 defines a RESTful web services interface for managing product change requests, activities, tasks and relationships as well as related resources such as requirements, test cases, or architectural resources.

The OP received 3 Statements of Use from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, SodiusWillert, and IBM [5].

60-day public reviews for OSLC Requirements Management v2.1 and Change Management v3.0 have closed

Andrii Berezovskyi

Dear OSLC project members,

The 60-day public reviews for OSLC Requirements Management v2.1 and Change Management v3.0 announced on 09 March 2021 in https://lists.oasis-open-projects.org/g/oslc-op/message/483 has closed:

  1. Change Management v3.0 received no comments.
  2. Requirements Management v2.1 received comments that require non-material changes to the specification. The editors are preparing a revised Project Specification and comment log following the process outlined in https://www.oasis-open.org/policies-guidelines/tc-process-2017-05-26/#OSpublicRev

Next steps:

  1. We asked Chet to proceed with the call for consent to publish Change Management v3.0 as an OASIS Standard.
  2. I will prepare a new PS revision Requirements Management v2.1 soon so that it can be put forward for a PGB vote and published. We will be able to request a call for consent directly afterwards because SoUs do not need to be gathered again for a revision that only has non-material changes.
  3. We are waiting on the 3rd SoU for Core PS 02 and Query PS 01. We hope that IBM will be able to provide them.
  4. TRS is nearing the stage where it can be published as a TRS 3.0 PSD 01.

I am very excited about the progress reached so far and would like to thank everyone in the OP as well as in OASIS for working hard to make this happen!

Best regards,

Andrew on behalf of the PGB

P.S. Special thanks to Chet for the email template (:

OSLC Core v3.0 Project Specification 02 approved by the OSLC Open Project

Paul Knight

OASIS is pleased to announce that OSLC Core Version 3.0 from the Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration Open Project [1] has been approved as an OASIS Project Specification.

Managing change and configuration in a complex systems development lifecycle is very difficult, especially in heterogeneous environments that include homegrown tools, open source projects, and commercial tools from different vendors. The OSLC initiative applies World Wide Web and Linked Data principles to enable interoperation of change, configuration, and asset management processes across a product's entire application and product lifecycle.

OSLC Core defines the overall approach to Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration based specifications and capabilities that extend and complement the W3C Linked Data Platform.

This Project Specification is an OASIS deliverable, completed and approved by the OP's Project Governing Board and fully ready for testing and implementation. The applicable open source licenses can be found in the project's administrative repository at https://github.com/oslc-op/oslc-admin/blob/master/LICENSE.md.
